Younique | Mineral Makeup Review | Mission Abbotsford BC
Younique Mineral Makeup Review take a cleaner approach to the specialty cosmetic relm. I had the pleasure of meeting Coree Easton, Independent Sales Representative. I told her about my drive to find appropriate products for my clients, that are not only safe to use they have great pay off for pigment. I was curious about a larger company like this one how they can keep the ingredients still clean, fresh and no synthetics.
I have had the privilege to use the Moodstruck Mineral Pigment Powder in all ranges of colors! My favorite is Curious which is a soft highlighter with just the right amount of shimmer. Here are the ingredients listed for these pigment powders:
Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide, Tin Oxide, Bismuth Oxychloride Carmine, Zinc Oxide
The Bismuth Oxychloride in most natural products state of being a natural preservative and not harmful at all. I know a few clients that have an irritation to this ingredient. For being such a large produced cosmetic line i wish this ingredient wasn’t in there but perhaps down the road they can find another solution to it.
Carmine is another ingredient i was disappointed to see in the list. Carmine is a red pigment that states ‘natural’ but it isn’t unfortunately made by crushed and boiled insects. In a way I was disappointed to see this on the list but this is a natural ingredient rather than RED LAKE Dyes that are oh so harmful to use. There are no shortages of insects especially when they are farmed properly.
Purposes To This Product:
A little goes a long way with these eyeshadows. When you dampen the eyeshadow brush with either water or rose water it creates a great intense look. This goes for creating liquid liner as well. I Like the idea of loose eyeshadows- yes they are messy but the process of creating a pressed shadow in a pan is more hard on your eyes then loose. Factories use Alcohol and mix it up with the pigments, pack the product in, press it until the alcohol evaporates and thats how your left with a sturdy pan of eyeshadow. I am always learning different techniques on application of loose minerals but these are quite easily applied.
I like this product and I am going to give it 3 out of 5 stars for now. These are great eyeliners and highlights but Until I find a Natural Lid Primer to use under these shadows over the whole area I won’t know if it is the best product for me to use in my professional kit for my clients.
Next product is the
Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lash Mascara
Here is a list of the ingredients below
Transplanting Gel Ingredients: Water, Beeswax (Natural Propolis), Carnauba (Brazilian palm glue), Iron Oxide Cl 77499 (Black), Collagen, Acrylates Copolymer, Nylon, Stearic Acid, Propylene Glycol. .23 FL OZ / 7 ml
Natural Fibers Ingredients: 100% Natural Fibers taken from the Campanulaceae of Green Tea. Net WT .02 OZ/ .5g.
Collagen is a type of protein that works with elastin to give skin its texture, structure, and appearance. It contains antioxidants, and may help contribute to the appearance of volume and shine for eyelashes.
Water, or highly purified, de-ionized water, is the liquid of life! Hydrates and cleanses the skin, and works as a natural spreading component, helping to distribute other ingredients evenly over the skin.
Beeswax (Natural Propolis) is a brownish, resinous material collected by bees with antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.
Carnauba (Brazilian Palm Glue) is extracted and refined through pressing and crushing that turns the palm glue into an oil, creating the sticky nature of the transplanting gel. Also acts as a natural preservative.
Iron Oxide Cl 77499 (Black) is a naturally-occurring mineral that acts a colorant, giving the gel its striking black color.
Acrylic Copolymer is an adhesive and binder, as well as a suspending agent.
Nylon is a powder substance that is used as an absorbent and thickening agent.
Stearic Acid (also known as Palmitic Acid) is an organic nutrient derived from palm trees that has the potential to soothe and soften the skin.
Propylene Glycol is a humidifying and delivery ingredient that helps active ingredients penetrate the skin.
I will say I have a couple ingredients in here that I’m not too happy about BUT considering it ONLY has Propylene Glycol and Acrylic Copolymer it could be a whole lot worse. I like this 2 part mascara. TIP apply the transplanting gel a couple coats from root to tip before using the fibers. Keep the fibers only to the areas you want extended ( tips of the lashes ) By doing this you won’t create spider lashes just lovely length. (( Please send me a message or comment if you want me to start making videos rather than blogging ))
Removal is quite easy with warm water. I have not tried this mascara swimming but everyone is different. It is longer wearing if applied properly but is not waterproof. I was excited to have this on hand for my brides on their wedding day if it turned out to be water proof. I will still supply this lovely product in my kit for the same fee as applying false lashes. But will keep this for Engagements, Glam, Fashion and boudoir.
I give this mascara 3 out of 5. This product is so rewarding and the pay off is amazing but it does take a little bit more time compared to our basic natural mascara with the volume building agents already mixed in. The color is a rich black with is wonderful and the ingredients could be better. I hope to repurchase this product in my kit for professional and natural professional too!
